Clear aligners are the ‘invisible’ way to straighten teeth using a series of transparent, lightweight aligners. They have a number of key advantages over traditional braces: it’s inconspicuous with no wires or brackets being involved, only thin, virtually invisible plastic aligners; it’s removable, meaning you can take it out to eat, drink, and clean your teeth; and it’s more comfortable, with no abrasion to the lips and cheeks and soreness like with braces.
Clear aligners work by using advanced 3D imaging equipment and software to develop custom made aligners. These are then worn in sequence, usually for 2 weeks each, to gradually move the teeth into position.
Clear aligners should generally be worn 20-22 hours per day and should be removed for eating and drinking.
